Design Features
Straight Ribbon Heaters incorporate the durability and reliability associated with AdelWiggins’ standard ribbon heaters in a flat design. Boeing has utilized standard AdelWiggins ribbon heaters on all wide-bodies since 1994 with outstanding success. Straight ribbon heaters offer a versatile and reliable alternative to existing heater tape. Straight heater ribbon can be used in a variety of applications including wrapping water and drain lines, or any application requiring freeze protection.
HRS heater design includes high-tech fabric and heater elements to meet the robust service requirements of the installation and in operation. Extensive testing in conjunction with Boeing demonstrated the resistance to abrasion and flexure in service. They come in various lengths from 1 to 60 feet and watt densities from 3 to 10 watts per foot. HRS is available in uncontrolled or thermostatic versions.
AdelWiggins Chosen to Replace Heater Tape for 747 and 767 Water and Drain Lines
(Boeing Service Bulletin 747-30A2080 and 767-30A0038)
Boeing has chosen AdelWiggins to replace all heater tape on in-service 747’s and 767’s. The change will affect heater tape on water and drain lines in cargo compartments with non-fully enclosed floors.
